DR MATSANGA DAVID OPINION: A LITMUS TEST FOR REDEMPTION.
DR MATSANGA DAVID: A LITMUS TEST FOR REDEMPTION.
I write this piece for the people of Kenya and Africa . Today's events in Kenya have vividly taken my mind to a persiflage that occurred more than 2000 years ago in the Holy Writ.
Whence the annals of history documented aeons of Phillip and Nathaniel in Nazareth at the cradle of the Messianic odyssey of Christ.
In an enthusiastic verbatim, it was written that "Philip findeth Nathaniel, and saith unto him, we have found Him, of whom Moses in the law.
Remember the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. And Nathaniel says unto Philip, Could any good thing come out of Nazareth?"
That's the point where I conjure my thoughts today. Today Kenya hangs on the same delicate balance as Nazareth 2000 years ago, a tight rope between redemption and peril, waiting for a messiah to redeem its standing.
As you Kenyans wait upon the Supreme Court judgement, it will be interesting to see whether the bench will settle this question of destiny and erase iotas of doubt from the naysayers like what happened in Nazareth 2000years .
Just to shade light on my allegory, it was documented in history that Nazareth, one of the lowliest places on earth, pervaded with injustices, nothing good could come out of it.
Little wonder then that Nathaniel rehashed this historical truth to his friend, Philip.
But Nazareth was later to become the birthplace of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. By His life, death and resurrection, the place opened up and became the pilgrimage centres in the world.
So what used to be a derided place in history, now became a place of hope and honour by REDEMPTION
Will the Supreme Court save the Country from the pitfalls of ridicule, shame and bizarre criminality of those who manipulate the will of the people?
Will the bench redeem Kenya's tattered democratic image and restore the integrity gains eroded by IEBC Wafula Chebukati and his cabal? Like Nathaniel, I skeptically ask, could anything good come out Nazareth?
The answer to this question lies in the Supreme Court judgement in the next couple of days, and it's the hope and the wish of many Kenyans that the courts live up to these expectations of a majority of them .
Whichever way the verdict goes mine is to seek annul of fraudulent election. When justice is served,Kenya's glory will have been redeemed amongst mature democracies in Africa and World at large.
