KENYA PASTORALIST YOUTH FORUM URGES MR RUTO ,THE PRESIDENT-ELECT TO TACKLE ISSUES OF GREAT CONCERN FOR NORTHERN KENYA
Kenya Pastoralist Youth Forum Chairman and renowned activist Mr Hassan Aden Gumo has called on Dr William Ruto to give a huge priority to issues that has bedevilled the Northern region and urged his government to solve it.
Mr Gumo, an award winning sociopolitical activist and a big agitator for development in the region said that Mr Ruto should deviate from the precedence of the others before him who have neglected the Northern part of Kenya by repaying the faith the pastoral community have shown in him by tackling the perennial problems ,under development and lack of political goodwill to help in the transformation of North Eastern.
Mr Gumo highlighted myriads of issues that he needs the government of President-Elect Ruto to give the keenest interest in the hope of addressing them.
1 He urged Prresident Ruto to open the Kenya- Somalia boarder since the residents benefit from cross business and its ease of accessibility. This will also earn the country a source of revenue
2 Tarmacing of Modogosge - mandera Road- Garissa- Liboi Road is vital since its a link that meanders and go through a large swath of land and settlements. This will open up the region and businesses will boom
3 Drought is a big issue for the pastoral community who watch their livestock which is their sole livelihood die due to droughts. Programs to mitigate and help boost the welfare of the community will be a big relief to them.
4 issuance of National Identification cards and passports has been a big problem to the people of Northern region. Mr Gumo urged the government of Ruto to help the region be at par and equal to the rest of the country saying its their fundamental rights.
5 Extra- judicial killing has been inexplicably on the rise. Mr Gumo has said that this issue has brought alot of pain and anguish to many families and must be put to stop.
Mr Gumo said he has full confidence the President-Elect will hear the region's cry and act.
He said its time the government of Ruto give a special dedicated standalone ministry to run the development affairs of the region.
