Manhole Cover Vandals in Mombasa County Put on Notice

MANHOLE COVER VANDALS IN MOMBASA COUNTY PUT ON NOTICE 



CECM Transport and infrastructure Manyala Dan has cautioned those who are stealing manhole covers telling them that they are putting the lives of thousands of people at risk. Mr Manyala urged the public to report such issues to county government or the police in a bid to curb the constant theft of the covers that secure the manholes. 


"Theft of manhole covers contributes to drainage system blockages and puts public health at risk. " he posted on his social media page adding members of the public are encouraged to report such cases to the CGM enforcement officers or the nearest Police Station.

Open manholes pose a great risk to unsuspecting people, kids and animals. It also causes blockages and clogged drainage systems. 


The County government of Mombasa through the Department of Transport and Infrastructure has been making improvements to the drainage system while covering manholes that have been vandalised.

TUDOR WARD AND THE SPILLAGE OF RAW SEWAGE INTO HOUSES POINTS TO POOR DRAINAGE SYSTEMS.  The people of Tudor Four have been neglected by the County Government of Mombasa. They are up in arms over raw sewage spilling of into their houses as the drainages are yet be unclogged.  They said they have appealed to Governor Abdulswamad but he has so far ignored them. The sewage has submerged part of the road forcing pedestrians to look for alternative routes. "So the county government has preference of which area to help or not? Why is Tudor ward not getting the services we deserve? Salim Abdalla said. He warned the Governor that they will not vote for him again since he no longer treats all areas the same. The ongoing heavy rains has exposed the weaknesses of the County Government of Mombasa especially it's preparedness to tackle flood related issues.
