Wajir County Finance Official Alleged to have Grabbed Lands Amid Abuse of Office Reports
WAJIR COUNTY FINANCE OFFICIAL ALLEGED TO HAVE GRABBED LANDS AMID ABUSE OF OFFICE REPORTS
Fresh allegations have emerged against Wajir County’s Chief Officer of Finance, YM Dahiye, following a whistle-blower report that accuses the senior official of engaging in a pattern of corrupt dealings and abuse of office.
According to the report, which investigators say has been corroborated by three independent sources familiar with the matter, the finance chief is alleged to have accumulated multiple high-value assets under questionable circumstances. These include properties in Nairobi’s Parklands neighbourhood and ownership of a radio station in Wajir town, which the whistle-blower claims is being used as a propaganda platform against political opponents and critics of the county leadership.
More troubling, the report alleges that Dahiye unlawfully acquired a parcel of land located behind Wajir Girls Secondary School, land said to belong to a widowed senior citizen. The land has reportedly since been developed into a petrol station. The widow, described as vulnerable and without political influence, is said to have been left devastated by the alleged dispossession.
Sources involved in the investigation claim that the land transfer was facilitated through the compromise of public officials within the land registry. The whistle-blower alleges that fraudulent sale agreements and transfer documents were fabricated to legitimize the transaction, effectively defrauding the widow of her property.
Investigators say a comprehensive dossier is currently being compiled for submission to relevant authorities, detailing the alleged role of public officers in enabling the transfer and outlining the documentary trail behind the transaction.
Observers note that the allegations mark a sharp contrast with the official’s earlier public profile, with critics arguing that his conduct during the second term of the current administration reflects an alarming concentration of power exercised without ethical restraint.
The whistle-blower report characterises the conduct as emblematic of a broader problem of impunity within local governance structures, warning that such actions, if left unaddressed, pose serious risks to vulnerable citizens and the rule of law.
