HON DUALE ACCOMPANIES PRESIDENT RUTO TO BUJUMBURA FOR THE 20TH EXTRA-ORDINARY EAC HEADS OF STATES SUMMIT
Upheavals and unrest in any part of the region affects socio-economic and political growth of the Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes Region.
The Government of Kenya, under President William Ruto, is committed to engage other leaders of the East African Community (EAC) and beyond, to conclusively deal with the security situation in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo and see to it that peace and stability is restored in Eastern DRC.
As a follow up on the progress the EAC Regional Forces and the achievements of the Nairobi Peace Process have had in addressing the Congo challenge, I was privileged to accompany President Ruto to Bujumbura, Burundi for the 20th Extra-Ordinary Summit of the East African Community Heads of State.
The conference, chaired by President Évariste Ndayishimiye of Burundi, was aimed at addressing among other regional concerns, the security situation and mitigation measures in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
