HON ADEN DUALE MEETS WITH NATIONAL LAND COMMISSION, UASIN GISHU LEADERS TO DISCUSS THE GRABBING OF ELDORET MILITARY LAND
The encroachment and grabbing of the Eldoret Military Land by trespassers has been a hindrance to the expansion of military facilities and operations in the Moi Barracks, Recruiting Training School (RTS) and the Kenya Ordnance Factories Corporation (KOFC).
Land, being an emotive issue and to avoid military-civilian disputes, such cases must be addressed with great caution and all stakeholders be brought on board.
Today, at the Defence Headquarters, Nairobi, Hon Aden Duale met senior officials from the State Department for Lands, the National Lands Commission (NLC) and representatives from the Uasin Gishu County Government led by Governor Jonathan Bii, to discuss the most amicable and tenable way to resolve this historical squabble which will involve among other measures, the relocation of locals who have occupied critical areas in close proximity to the military installation and factory.
Also present were PS, State Department for Lands Hon. Nixon Korir; PS, Defence Mr Patrick Mariru; Vice Chief of Defence Forces (VCDF) Lieutenant General Francis Ogolla; Assistant Chief of Defence Forces in charge of Personnel and Logistics (ACDF P&L) Major General Muthuri Kiugu; Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago; Turbo MP Janet Sitienei; NLC Chairperson Gershom Otachi and other county officials.
