Hon Duale Holds Bilateral Talks With U.S Senators and U.S Ambassador at Defence Headquarters

HON DUALE HOLDS BILATERAL TALKS WITH U.S SENATORS AND U.S AMBASSADOR TO KENYA AT THE DEFENCE HEADQUARTERS

Hon Aden Duale, Cabinet Secretary Defence morning at the Defence Headquarters held bilateral talks with a delegation of US Senators led by Hon. Markwayne Mullin and the US Ambassador to Kenya Her Excellency Ms. Meg Whitman. This meeting comes hot on the heels of a recent visit by the US Secretary for Defense Mr. Lloyd Austin III.

Kenya and the United States (U.S) have enjoyed long and strategic partnerships with the latter investing heavily in modernizing Kenya's security structures and agencies to address emerging threats through intelligence sharing, maritime security, joint training and military assistance through Excess Defence Articles (EDA). 

Hon Duale informed the delegation that Kenya is increasingly playing a leadership role in pursuit of regional peace and security in the Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes Region which is evident by their active role in Somalia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Moreover, Kenya and the U.S have an active framework for Defence Cooperation running between 2023-2028 for the mutual benefit of the two countries. Additionally, the two countries continue to interact through national Bilateral Strategic Dialogue (BSD) and biennial ministerial Bilateral Defence Forum (BDF).

Hon Duale said the current global security landscape provides common security challenges which calls for shared solutions. "We therefore look forward to cementing our partnership and collaboration by leveraging on our strengths for the mutual benefit of our two countries."

During the discussions, he was accompanied by the Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla, Principal Secretary Mr. Patrick Mariru, Assistant Chief of Defence Forces in charge of Operations Doctrine and Training (ACDF OPD&T) Major General Fred Leuria and the Chiefs of different branches at the Defence Headquarters.

TUDOR WARD AND THE SPILLAGE OF RAW SEWAGE INTO HOUSES POINTS TO POOR DRAINAGE SYSTEMS.  The people of Tudor Four have been neglected by the County Government of Mombasa. They are up in arms over raw sewage spilling of into their houses as the drainages are yet be unclogged.  They said they have appealed to Governor Abdulswamad but he has so far ignored them. The sewage has submerged part of the road forcing pedestrians to look for alternative routes. "So the county government has preference of which area to help or not? Why is Tudor ward not getting the services we deserve? Salim Abdalla said. He warned the Governor that they will not vote for him again since he no longer treats all areas the same. The ongoing heavy rains has exposed the weaknesses of the County Government of Mombasa especially it's preparedness to tackle flood related issues.
