*ABDI SAMA TIMBERLAKE*
Department of Tourism, Culture and Trade, Mombasa county has been one of the best and well run departments under the government of County CEO Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir. Just by keenly following their robust and very efficient activities, one can't help but admire the grit and the determination of CECM Mohamed Osman Ali. With him, he has brought that discipline and urgency to implement the goals and agendas of the Governor in matters relating to that sector.
The Department is working around the clock in realization of a 24hour economy meant to spur economic growth, building of institutional capacity to support SMEs sustainable growth.
Encouraging International franchises to set up shops in Mombasa and Kenya at large by the Department and its subsequent success is a true testimony of the paradigm shift the county has taken in creation of a conducive business environment to attract investors.
The Department of Tourism, Culture, and Trade is leading the charge in revitalizing Destination Mombasa as they have been on a charm-offensive mission to invite all stakeholders to join in this exciting journey towards restoring Mombasa's vibrant carnival scene. Knowing the importance of collaboration as a key, they have cooperated with Mombasa International Festival. Together, they explored innovative ideas on how to reclaim Mombasa's position as the top tourist destination in East Africa.
The Department has been working closely with Jua Kali industry. This is commendable as Jua Kali sector provides employment opportunities for thousands youths annually which helps in improving the economic status of Mombasa.
Indeed with current performance trajectory of this department and the visionary leadership of CECM Mohamed Osman, I am confident the agendas of Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir of Revitalising the economy of Mombasa is well on course and will be a success eventually.
