Activist Hassan Aden Gumo Reiterates the Importance of Safeguarding Human Rights

ACTIVIST HASSAN ADEN GUMO REITERATES THE IMPORTANCE OF SAFEGUARDING AND PROTECTING HUMAN RIGHTS 

Renown human rights activist and good governance crusader Mr Hassan Aden Gumo has reiterated the importance of educating the masses on their inalienable rights saying human rights is a universal thing that should never be denied to be accessed by all.

The award winning activist said government and those in leadership positions must ensure they follow the law accordingly by availing opportunities to those who they lead while adding that development is important aspect of any society that wants to thrive and grow.

"We must understand the role of human rights as empowering of individuals and communities. By protecting these rights, we can help prevent the many conflicts based on poverty, discrimination and exclusion (social, economic and political) that continue to plague humanity and destroy decades of development efforts. The vicious circle of human rights violations that lead to conflicts-which in turn lead to more violations-must be broken. I believe we can break it only by ensuring respect for all human rights" Mr Gumo said. 

Mr Gumo urged the political leadership to ensure they use the public resources prudently and avoid engaging in vices like corruption and misappropriation.

TUDOR WARD AND THE SPILLAGE OF RAW SEWAGE INTO HOUSES POINTS TO POOR DRAINAGE SYSTEMS.  The people of Tudor Four have been neglected by the County Government of Mombasa. They are up in arms over raw sewage spilling of into their houses as the drainages are yet be unclogged.  They said they have appealed to Governor Abdulswamad but he has so far ignored them. The sewage has submerged part of the road forcing pedestrians to look for alternative routes. "So the county government has preference of which area to help or not? Why is Tudor ward not getting the services we deserve? Salim Abdalla said. He warned the Governor that they will not vote for him again since he no longer treats all areas the same. The ongoing heavy rains has exposed the weaknesses of the County Government of Mombasa especially it's preparedness to tackle flood related issues.
