DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT AND INFRASTRUCTURE PUTTING VITAL MEASURES IN PLACE TO PREVENT FLOODING

Heavy rainfall preparedness works and stormwater drainage cleaning activities are in full gear in Mombasa County as the Department of Transport and Infrastructure continue to put in place mitigating measures to curb any potential flooding.

Multiple activities including unblocking drainages and improving other key Infrastructural amenities has been ongoing in preparation for the heavy rains expected according to the Metrological Department.

CECM Dan Manyala led in supervision of the works along Nyerere Avenue and in Old Town Ward as they are progressing.

Mr Manyala said to manage and direct excess rain water and runoff and significantly prevent the risk of flooding in urban centers, these drainage systems need to be free of blockages.

"Report irresponsible waste disposal happening to these waterways and around you to the area Ward Administrator, Environment Compliance officer or public health officer for action." Mr Manyala said.
