Mombasa, The Only County to Flatten the Road Fatality Curve.

MOMBASA, THE ONLY COUNTY TO FLATTEN THE ROAD FATALITY CURVE.


According to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), Mombasa county is the only county in Kenya that has managed to flatten the curve when it comes to road crashes fatalities.

A clearly marked Pedestrian crossings, well maintained roads, adherence to traffic rules enforced by the Inspectorate and functioning streetlights done by the Department of Transport and Infrastructure has ensured safety for the users.

Speaking to Kenyan Guardian News website, Mr Manyala Dan, CECM Transport and infrastructure said they will keep doing their best to ensure safety for all the road users adding that they will introduce bills in the county assembly that once passed will make Mombasa one of the safest cities in Africa. 

"Currently we are working on introducing three bills at the county assembly, road safety lies in the centre of all these bills. The bills are the transport and infrastructure bill, Non-motorised transport policy and the road safety policy. I believe that in the next two months they will all be in place" said Mr Manyala.

TUDOR WARD AND THE SPILLAGE OF RAW SEWAGE INTO HOUSES POINTS TO POOR DRAINAGE SYSTEMS.  The people of Tudor Four have been neglected by the County Government of Mombasa. They are up in arms over raw sewage spilling of into their houses as the drainages are yet be unclogged.  They said they have appealed to Governor Abdulswamad but he has so far ignored them. The sewage has submerged part of the road forcing pedestrians to look for alternative routes. "So the county government has preference of which area to help or not? Why is Tudor ward not getting the services we deserve? Salim Abdalla said. He warned the Governor that they will not vote for him again since he no longer treats all areas the same. The ongoing heavy rains has exposed the weaknesses of the County Government of Mombasa especially it's preparedness to tackle flood related issues.
