Hon Duale Plays Host to WFP Country Director Ms Lauren Landis

HON DUALE PLAYS HOST TO WFP COUNTRY DIRECTOR MS LAUREN LANDIS 


Hon Aden Duale, Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry hosted Ms. Lauren Landis, World Food Programme (WFP) Kenya Country Director, for a courtesy visit to discuss the proposed GOK-WFP: Climate Resilient and Inclusive Food Systems programme.

The initiative introduces a groundbreaking 'food-for-food security swaps' climate financing model, with WFP serving as the Development Impact Provider, working closely with national and county institutions in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs).

The discussion followed up on an October workshop in Naivasha, focusing on tackling food insecurity, climate change impacts and fiscal challenges. 

Hon Duale was joined by Mr. Kennedy Olwasi and Mr. Lerenten Lelekoiten from the Climate Change Directorate.

TUDOR WARD AND THE SPILLAGE OF RAW SEWAGE INTO HOUSES POINTS TO POOR DRAINAGE SYSTEMS.  The people of Tudor Four have been neglected by the County Government of Mombasa. They are up in arms over raw sewage spilling of into their houses as the drainages are yet be unclogged.  They said they have appealed to Governor Abdulswamad but he has so far ignored them. The sewage has submerged part of the road forcing pedestrians to look for alternative routes. "So the county government has preference of which area to help or not? Why is Tudor ward not getting the services we deserve? Salim Abdalla said. He warned the Governor that they will not vote for him again since he no longer treats all areas the same. The ongoing heavy rains has exposed the weaknesses of the County Government of Mombasa especially it's preparedness to tackle flood related issues.
