Health CS Hon Duale Held Bilateral Meeting with Belgian Ambassador. Discussed Many Issues

HEALTH CS DUALE HELDS A BILATERAL MEETING WITH THE BELGIAN AMBASSADOR. DISCUSSED MANY ISSUES

Health Cabinet Secretary Hon Aden Duale held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Peter Maddens, Belgian Ambassador to Kenya, to review progress on two key health projects supported by Belgium.

The leaders acknowledged Belgium's vital role in strengthening Kenya's health systems, especially through the Medical Waste Microwave Project.

Phase 1, completed in June 2021, benefitted major hospitals including the Kenyatta National Hospital, Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital and facilities across the eight counties of Kakamega, Kisumu, Mombasa, Nakuru, Embu, Nyeri, Machakos and Kisii, with phase 2 set to expand the reach to 15 more counties.

They also advanced discussions on the KEMRI-Unizima Bio-Manufacturing Training Hub, focusing on finalizing the MoU, securing financing and fast-tracking staff training in Belgium.

Both projects support the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) goals by boosting environmental health and local vaccine manufacturing.

Hon Duale was accompanied in the meeting by Medical Services PS, Dr. Ouma Oluga, the Director General for Health, Dr. Patrick Amoth and the Acting CEO of KEMRI, Prof. Elijah Martim.
