HON DUALE'S BOLD, ROBUST AND EFFECTIVE APPROACH TO HEALTHCARE SECTOR PAYING DIVIDENDS. INDEED PROGRESS AND SUCCESS IS IMMINENT.

Hon Aden Duale's short period transformation at the vital health sector is enviable and admirably excellent as his midas touch has apparently been felt. The veteran leader has taken over a Ministry which has been plagued and bedevilled by problems and issues that has greatly affected its intended purpose of dispensing the best possible services to the great people of Kenya. 

Upon his appointment, the CS has embarked on a very ambitious and challenging mission to transform the Health sector and subsequently implement the Healthcare agenda of President William Ruto. The President has bestowed his trust on Hon Duale to turn around the fortunes of the ailing ministry as he is aware of the excellent work ethics of his close friend and confidante. 


Notable Bold, Robust and Effective Progress Under Hon Duale:
Key changes and initiatives under Duale;

●UHC Staff Payroll Transition:

Effective July 1, 2025, the Ministry of Health will begin transferring the payroll management of UHC staff to County Governments, alongside funding to maintain and sustain current stipends. 

●SHA Establishment, Enabling and Emboldening

Duale spearheaded the creation of the Social Health Authority, aiming to provide comprehensive health coverage for all Kenyans and integrate with various systems. 

●Focus on UHC and BETA:

The changes were driven by the government's commitment to Universal Health Coverage and the broader Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), emphasizing improved access to quality healthcare for all Kenyans. 

●Emphasis on Workforce Strengthening:

Duale highlighted the importance of strengthening the health workforce, including the absorption of UHC staff into permanent and pensionable terms. 

●Quality Control and Accreditation:

Duale stressed the need for rigorous oversight of training institutions and healthcare facilities, including a comprehensive re-inspection of licensed health facilities and the full digitization of systems.

●Collaboration with County Governments:

Duale emphasized the importance of partnerships with county governments for effective health service delivery. 

●Addressing Maternal Mortality:

Concerned about rising maternal mortality rates, Duale directed regulatory bodies to provide quarterly reports to enhance monitoring and intervention. 

●Digital Health Initiatives:

Duale advocated for the full digitization of health systems, including the Council of Clinical Officers (COC) systems, in line with the Ministry's Digital Health Strategy.


This is a new dawn for the Ministry of Health and a renewed hope for Millions of Kenyans. It's a prayer answered for those who were previously disappointed with the sorry state of affairs in the vital health sector. Today, there are no dejected faces venturing out of a Healthcare facility as Hon Duale has tied all the loose ends. There is hope and joy.

Hon Duale is honest, proffessional and enthusiastic about the roles he takes. A performer per excellence, his leadership track record has been nothing but inspirational.
