New Watchdog Group Launched in Garissa Aims to Fight Corruption and Promote Accountability and Equity- Chairman Gumo
NEW WATCHDOG GROUP LAUNCHED AIMS TO FIGHT CORRUPTION WHILE PROMOTING INTEGRITY AND TRANSPARENCY
Garissa County Community Development Watchdog Group (GCCD-WG), an independent, community-based platform established to strengthen and encourage citizen participation, transparency, accountability and equity in the funding and the subsequent implementation of development initiatives across Garissa County.
The group's Chairman Mr Hassan Aden Gumo emphasized the importance of the creation of the organisation terming it as a new dawn for the people of Garissa county. He also highlighted the group's mission to deter the youth from harmful practices like drugs and radicalism.
"The Group also has Reach-Out programs aimed at empowering youth, women and girl child by agitating for their rightful share of funding from the respective public offices. Our detailed programs also entails seminars and workshops to help our youthful members of the community to desist from crrime, extremism and radicalisation by engaging them in meaningful initiatives" Mr Gumo said.
The Chairman called for Civil Societies and donors to collaborate with the organisation to help make their missions easier and successful.
"Should you wish to engage us further, we are available for a visit or a joint meeting at your earliest convenience. We look forward to a meaningful collaboration in ensuring that no voice is left behind in the development of Garissa County" Gumo said.
