CS ADEN DUALE OFFICIALLY OPENED THE DOORS OF MASJID AL-ABRAR IN GARISSA COUNTY
The mosque features a spacious prayer area for men on the ground floor and a separate area for women on the first floor. Additionally, the mosque includes a Ghusul area, designed for the washing and clothing of the deceased according to Islamic tradition before burial. Al-Abrar mosque has also been equipped with an ambulance that doubles up as hearse that will be used to ferry the sick and bodies to their final resting place at no cost.
The launch coincided with this year's Day of Arafa, one of the most significant days in the Islamic calendar. As pilgrims gathered on the Arafa plains in Saudi Arabia to make supplications, Muslims worldwide observed a fast that can expiate up to two years of misdeeds.
"The construction of Masjid Al-Abrar was a labor of love for my family, we came together to build the mosque as an act of Sadaqa Jariah (ongoing charity) on behalf of our late parents. The state-of-the-art facility is expected to serve as a hub for spiritual growth and community development in Garissa County" Hon Duale said.
The opening ceremony drew a large crowd of faithful and prominent leaders, including former cabinet minister Mohammed Maalim, renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh Umal Mohammed from Eastleigh in Nairobi who led the maiden Dhuhur (Noon) prayer, and Abdi Bare Duale, chairman of the Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC) Board alongside Several members of the Garissa County Assembly were also in attendance.
