Hon Duale's First Visit to KNH. Reaffirms Government's Commitment to Strengthen the Facility's Capacity
CS DUALE MAKES HIS FIRST VISIT TO KENYATTA NATIONAL HOSPITAL. REAFFIRMS GOVERNMENT'S COMMITMENT TO STRENGTHEN ITS CAPACITY
Hon Aden Duale, Health Cabinet Secretary made his maiden visit to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) to reaffirm the government's full commitment to strengthening its capacity as a premier national referral and teaching hospital.
In a consultative meeting with the Board and Senior Management, the CS emphasized the need for strong leadership, accountability and world-class service standards across all referral facilities.
Hon Duale commended KNH's trailblazing achievements; including Kenya's first laparoscopic kidney resection and the world's first transhumeral total shoulder replacement, as a proof to its global standing in medical innovation.
He also toured key departments, including the cancer treatment centre, radiotherapy bunker and the oxygen plant under construction, and called on county governments to enhance referral and primary healthcare to decongest KNH.
He urged development partners to support KNH in equipment upgrades, digital transformation, research and training.
"KNH remains a vital pillar in the delivery of Universal Health Coverage under the Social Health Insurance (SHI) scheme" He said.
He was hosted by KNH leadership led by Board Chair Dr. Samier Muravvej and Acting CEO Dr. William Sigilai and joined by PS Medical Services Dr. Ouma Oluga and Director General for Health Dr Patrick Amoth among other senior Ministry officials.
