HON DUALE EMPHASISES THE GREAT ROLE IMAMS AND THE ULAMAAS HAVE TO PLAY TO CURB EXTREMISM AND ENHANCE PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE
Extremist groups want to use religion, trying in effect, to hijack Islam. And we, as Muslim faithful, must step up the fight against terrorism.
To win this ideological war and reclaim our near-lost glory in the eyes of the world, the Imams have a great role to play. As models of society, they are the best people to preach peace, tolerance and coexistence.
Speaking during the opening of a two-day training for Imams organized by the Supreme Council of Kenya (SUPKEM) in partnership with the World Muslim League of Saudi Arabia at Masjid Jamia Conference, Nairobi, I challenged the leaders, teachers and preachers of our religion to encourage deradicalization and dissuade the youth from negative influence from parties seeking to drive a destructive agenda.
