Mohamed Werar popularly known as Were, a youthful, vibrant and result oriented man with budding political ambitions and abilities is a clear frontrunner poised to become the next Garissa Township MP. It's a dream that he harboured since his heydays as a little boy from the dusty suburbs of Garissa trekking miles to attend school at the modest Tetu Primary School.

His humble background and the struggles to make ends meet has imparted the sense of purpose in him while the urge to help his people has informed his ambition to seek an elective seat.

A County High School Alumni, Mr Were proceeded to attend the East Africa and Daystar Universities where he excelled becoming one of the most prominent and notable figures in the campus leadership. He is currently doing his Masters at MKU. He is also a serving member of Kenya National Library Service Board.

Due to his immense and shrewd business acumen, colourful track record and his flamboyance, Mr Were needs no introduction to the world of leadership defined by actions and results. For over a decade, he forged a close business relationship with former Minister David Macharia who was impressed by the sheer determination and dedication of Mr Were he even branded him the moniker "Kiongozi". Mr Were became the right hand man of Macharia and are still business associates to this day.

To cement his knack for taking up huge challenges heads-on, Mr Were is currently doing a mega Affordable Housing Project to the tune of 2.8 Billion and a water project worth 854 Million, once again showcasing both his great financial and management skills.

Garissa native through and through, Mr Were's understanding of the needs and concerns of the community is unmatched. His insatiable appetite to transform and develop Garissa Township has been a noble agenda he sought to make it happen and all the signs points to a successful outcome.
