HON DUALE HOSTS UNDER SPECIAL SECRETARY GENERAL, SPECIAL COORDINATOR AND SPECIAL ENVOY TO THE GREAT LAKES  The Ministry of Defence is not left out in the global sensitisation against Gender Based Violence and, the local drive for Economic Transformation. Hon Aden Duale was privileged to host the Under-Secretary-General, Special Coordinator on Improving the United Nations response to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, Mr. Christian Saunders who paid a courtesy visit to the Defence Headquarters, Nairobi. Their consultative engagement centred around furthering cooperation in areas of mutual and shared interests. In another meeting with the Special Envoy for Great Lakes, Ms. Alison Thorpe, they discussed ways and areas of partnership that would not only create safe spaces of human interaction but also build secure platforms for regional trade.

HON MWENDA THURANIRA CALLS FOR COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT AS THE ONLY WAY TO REALISE DEVELOPMENT  Renown Real Estate and property Manager, change advocate Hon Mwenda Thuranira has said that great things happen when change is ushered calling on Isiolo County Community to ask for accountability from their leaders to realise full development and progress.  Mr Thuranira, a well known education and development activist has been vocal about issues of great importance to the people and has always advocated for progress and empowerment.  Mr Thuranira said that communities must be enabled to see positive changes and the political class must make their pre-election pledges true. "Community empowerment refers to the process of enabling communities to increase control over their lives. However if the common men and women are not empowered, then no development or prosperity will be realised " Mr Thuranira said.

THE ONGOING REVITALISATION OF LAKE VICTORIA TRANSPORT HUB Via Hamisi Mwaguya, Chairman Kenya Maritime Authority  The ongoing revitalisation of the Lake Victoria Transport Hub is a game changer for the Country and the East African Region. Had Opportunity to visit the Kenya Ship Yard Kisumu and Kisumu Port to appreciate the progress being made in this sector. The Multi-Agency Approach to development programmes is delivering and fast tracking results. KMA as the regulator, coordinator and overseer of the Maritime Sector and Blue Economy will continue to bring stakeholders together and unlock any impediments to development .

HON DUALE GRACES AND OFFICIATES THE OPENING OF NEW ULTRAMODERN YOUNG MUSLIM GIRLS SCHOOL  VIA HON ADEN DUALE  Education for empowerment, especially of the girl child, will improve educaion standards and access in the North Eastern Region from many of its present challenges including the teachers shortage, underage marriages and insecurity in most rural parts. The government is already addressing teacher shortage by recruiting over 30,000 teachers this year and NEP will have its share. Officiating the opening of an ultra-modern, Young Muslim Girls' Secondary School, which will admit its first batch of students next month, February 2023, I expressed my gratitude to the leadership and members of the Young Muslim Association (YMA) who made it possible.
