HON ZAMZAM LAMENTS OF THE RUNAWAY UNEMPLOYMENT SITUATION. SAYS SILUTIONS NEEDED. Mombasa County MP Hon Zamzam Mohammed has called for drastic measures to mitigate and curb the runaway unemployment situation faced by many Mombasa and the entire Coast by extension calling it a very sad situation which needs urgent intervention.  The MP narrated how many youths have been sidelined despite having all the necessary documents and abilities to work hence turning to drugs and crime for solace. Hon Zamzam lamented the disparities in job opportunities presented to Mombasa people in comparison to other areas saying we are all one people in one country, Kenya.  Hon Zamzam said many agencies and government parastatals are recruiting their own family members while leaving the rest of qualified people from poor backgrounds in the cold. She promised to fight for the welfare of all the youths in Mombasa County for their rights to fair job competition.

HON ADEN DUALE REASSURES UNSOS OF KENYA'S SUPPORT FOR A STABLE AND SECURE SOMALIA  Defence Cabinet Secretary Hon Aden Duale hosted the new United Nations (UN) Assistant Secretary General and Head of UNSOS Ms. Aisa Kirabo Kacyira, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Defence Headquarters, Nairobi. The United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS) plays a critical role in participating in peace process by supporting troops deployed in Somalia under the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS). Hon Duale congratulated Ms. Kirabo on her new role having taken over from Ms. Lisa Filipetto whose tour of duty came to an end. He assured the Head of UNSOS of support and commitment to work more closely with her office for the actualization of the ATMIS mandate. TRADE, TOURISM AND CULTURE CECM MOHAMED OSMAN PROMISE TO BACK AND SUPPORT HANDICRAFTS INDUSTRY IN A BID TO BOOST TOURISM AND ENTERPRISE  Handicrafts form an integral part of tourist experience. They represent local traditions and indigenous populations, also a valuable souvenir. Many countries benefit from handicrafts as a part of the cultural tourism dominated by archaeological and heritage sites, since they provide communities with a source of income and jobs opportunities. Such benefits varies though from a country to another. In encouraging and promoting the Handicrafts industry, CECM Tourism, Trade and Culture Mohamed Osman Ali recently went to Akamba Handicraft Industry, a well-known Co-Operative Society recognized for its distinctive and lively handcrafted items. It's a favorite spot among both tourists and locals.  During his visit, he explored strategies to back the enterprise, promote their products, and enhance their skills and customer service.

HON ADEN DUALE, DEFENCE CABINET SECRETARY SENDS A STERN WARNING TO AL-SHABAAB " WE WILL DEAL WITH YOU" Defence Cabinet Secretary Hon Aden Duale has sent a stern warning to the leadership of Al-Shabaab telling them Kenya will use all its military power to eradicate them. Hon Duale said the country will defend itself from the terrorist group and will ruthlessly deal with the militants saying the security of the people of Kenya is the number one priority.  The Cabinet Secretary said any threats from Al-Shabaab will be dealt with swiftly and with the full force of the military saying the days of terrorist group to cause havoc is now over. "I want to tell the leadership of Al-Shabaab that we will use our full military force to crack on you and defeat you. We will defend our country Kenya and there is no doubt about that " Hon Duale said. He was speaking after he visited Wajir County today.

Among the significant topics discussed was the County Government's decision to waive interest and penalties on parking fees for a two-week period. This measure aims to raise public awareness and understanding regarding the enforcement of parking fees in all designated areas. The county government is committed to fostering a mutually beneficial cooperation with all stakeholders and acknowledge the public interest surrounding this issue. KMA Chairman Mwaguya Announces Plans to Visit Nyanza In-land Water Ways after Meeting with Senator Okiya Omtatah

KENYA MARITIME AUTHORITY CHAIRMAN MWAGUYA TO VISIT IN-LAND WATERWAYS IN NYANZA AREA Kenya Maritime Authority Chairman Hamisi Mwaguya has announced his plans to officially visit port areas across Kenya in an ambitious plan to strengthen the presence of KMA. He will commence the process by visiting Busia County next month.  He said this after he hosted Busia Senator Hon. Okiya Omtatah at Kenya Maritime Authority offices accompanied by a delegation from Busia County.  Mr Okiya delivered a report submitted by 2000 residents on strengthening the presences of KMA in Port Victoria & Budalangi, Busia, as part of coordination & regulation of in-land Water Ways. Mr Mwaguya pomised to visit Busia this August to embark on that journey. 

World Kiswahili Language Day Marked In Style in Mombasa County

WORLD KISWAHILI DAY MARKED IN STYLE IN MOMBASA COUNTY  The world and most African countries marked Thursday as the first World Kiswahili Language Day. Swahili is considered one of the top 10 most spoken languages in the world. And in Africa, it is the most widely used native language. The language, which enjoys national status in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, is also widely spoken in parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Burundi. Mombasa County residents gathered at the Treasury Square to celebrate the use and importance of Swahili as one of its official languages and a common language in Africa. The celebrations was led by Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir. He was accompanied by CECM Tourism, Trade and Culture Mohamed Osman Ali among other dignitaries.  Kenya Tourism Minister Peninah Chipalonza was also in attendance. Many plays ,culture and art revolving around Swahili was also showcased.
